Calvin Lindbergh Short, 90, of Nathalie passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Doris Crews Short.
Mr. Short was born in Pittsylvania County, April 26, 1928, a son of the late Hubert L. Short and Betty Kelly Reynolds Short. He was a member of Childrey Baptist Church, an avid hunter and fisherman, who had a passion for the woods, rivers, and lakes.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan S. Dalton (friend Wayne Jones), Calvin “Ricky” Short (Virginia) all of Nathalie; four grandchildren, Scott Bing (Sherri) of Boydton, Carol Bing of South Hill, Brian Short of Boone, N.C., Jennifer S. Elder (Tommy) of Nathalie; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Bing Webb (Ricky), Brandy M. Bing (friend Brandon Smith), Kaysi, Matthew, Jocelyn and Brooklyn Bing, Christopher Anthony, Landon T. And Kersie M. Elder; two sisters, Betty S. Rosser (Paul) of Rustburg, Janie S. Bailess (Elmo) of Hurt; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Delma S. Blackstock; and a brother, James T. Short.
We would like to say a big thank you to a special caregiver, Adrith Fore for taking care of Daddy before being admitted to Heritage Hall. Also, we thank Heritage Hall, Brookneal staff for the care given to daddy during his stay there.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
