Obituaries

Christine Wright Burnett, 87, of Rustburg passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Lee Burnette. Mrs. Burnette was born in Campbell County, December 5, 1933, daughter of the late William Edward Wright and Sue Toler Wright. She was an avid nature lover, enjoyed bird watching, gardening, reading, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Susan H. Burnett (Diane) of Charlottesville; a son, William Lee Burnette (JoAnne) of Lynchburg; grandson, W. Travis Burnette (Lauryn); granddaughter, Carley Burnette; great-grandchild, Levi W. Burnette; brother, Carlton Wright of Manassas; two sisters, Louise Monroe of Lynchburg, Catherine Abbott of Madison Heights. The family would like to thank nieces, Cathy Monroe, Barbara Martin, and Brenda Holland for their love and support. Also Thank you to special friends, and neighbors for the love and care they have shown. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael G. Burnette; two sisters, Josephine Daniel, Margaret Johnson; four brothers, James, Gordon, Frank, and Elwood Wright. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 at Altavista Memorial Park.
