Harry Lee Hamlett, 78, of Brookneal passed away April 2, 2016 at his home following several years of declining health. He was the husband of Jane Martin Hamlett for 55 years.
Harry Lee was born at home in Charlotte County on April 29, 1937, lived his entire life and died on his beloved family farm. He was the son of the late Harry James Hamlett and Ollie Blackstock Hamlett. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, and the Staunton River Masonic Lodge #155. He owned and operated H. L. Hamlett Sawmill and was a tobacco farmer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Cathy Moore (Tim) of Rustburg, Linda Childress (Steve) of Radford, Janet Leigh Hamlett of Brookneal, and Kelly Bryant (Marc) of Cullen; seven grandchildren, Ashley Childress, Jamie Wells, Morgan Davis, Brandi Davis, Dakota Hamlett, Austin Bryant, Hailey Moore; one great-grandchild, Penelope Jane Wells; one sister, Betty Hamlett Davis of Vernon Hill; and his special pet, Ginger. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Faye Hamlett; a great-grandson, Micah Alexander Wells; four brothers; and four sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mike Teixeira and the Rev. Bonnie Pizzeck with interment to follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be performed at the grave.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the residence other times.
