Helen Watlington Short, 99, of Nathalie passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 in Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Cedric E. Short. Mrs. Short was born in Pittsylvania County, October 7, 1915 daughter of the late Thomas E. Watlington and Ola Shelton Watlington. She was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara S. Dell’Aria (Arthur) of Nathalie, Shelvey S. Lloyd (Robert) of Beaufort, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Brenda G. Short of Nathalie; six grandchildren, Paul Dell’Aria (Shelly) and children Haley, Paul, Jude and Harmony; Ann Page (Hoke) and daughter Ana; Richard Funai (Penny) and children, Sailor, Austin; Cedric Short (Sarah); Thomas Short (Amanda) and daughter Estella; James Short. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Short; a granddaughter, Jean Nalley. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at Mulberry Baptist Church by the Rev. David Hanks with interment to follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden, Gretna. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the church.
