Heywood Moses Jordan, 85, of Nathalie passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Charlotte Belle DeJarnette Jordan.

Mr. Jordan was born in Halifax County, February 5, 1933, a son of the late Willis Whitfield Jordan and Mary Folsom “Mamie” Bomar Jordan. He was a lifetime member of Childrey Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of American Legion Post #342, the Odd Fellows Lodge, a former member of Brookneal Volunteer Rescue Squad and a retired employee of Babcox and Wilcox.

He is survived by two daughters, Janet Perkins (Richard) of Richmond, Leslie Hudson (Thomas) of Alton; three grandchildren, Rebecca Perkins (Dave Collaton) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Kara Hudson Branscome (David) of Virgilina, Christopher Hudson of Alton; two great-granddaughters, M J Perkins of Richmond, Hazel Bittenbender of Colonial Heights; one great-grandson, Henry M. Branscome of Virgilina; his faithful companion Shaggy; granddogs, Prissy, Snooki and Emma. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary T. Hudson; five brothers; and four sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan Ward with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the grave by American Legion Post #36 of Altavista and Post #232 of Gretna.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
