Imogene Hamlett Scott, 89, of Rustburg passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at The Elms of Lynchburg.
Mrs. Scott was born in Charlotte County, July 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Daniel Lee Hamlett, Jr. and Pearl Imogene Hamlette Hamlett. She was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Morrison Cafeteria.
She is survived by three daughters, Daylia Scott Welch (James) of College Station, Texas, Eileen M. Fields (Steven), Marquette “Markie” Hixon all of Bryan, Texas; six grandchildren, Kristen Slafka (Ray), Brandon, Alicie, and Walter Welch, Amanda Dean, Leah Pendley (Justin); six great-grandchildren, Tristen Hixon, Acelynn Edwards, Brooklyn, and Sofia Slafka, Kyzee and Hadlee Pendley; two sisters, Mary Ann Riley (J.T.) of Garland, N.C., Ida Mae “Polly” Harper (Marvin) of Madison Heights. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Russell Woodrow Hamlett, George Wilson Hamlett, Daniel DeWitt Hamlett, Isaac Edison Hamlett, Charles Edward “Charlie” Hamlett, Royal Dean Hamlett; eight sisters, Ruth Hamlett Hamlette, Eva Hamlett Harper, Ruby Hamlett Lowe, Esther “Rachel” Hamlett McDonald, Baby Laura, Lois Hamlett Hudson, Mamie Hamlett Scott, Nancy Hamlett Harper.
Imogene was known as one to “stick with you” by helping numerous family members in time of need. She liked to read, artwork, and to study and learn new things. She worked as a volunteer with the YWCA, and the First Baptist Church food bank in Madison Heights.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with private interment in the Hamlett Family Cemetery.
Following CDC guidelines everyone that attends the service will be required to wear a mask and social distance.
