James Paul “Jim” Callaway, 72, of Amherst passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Judy Parr Callaway.
Jim was born in Columbia, MO, September 15, 1943 son of the late Paul T. Callaway and Dorothy Stovall Callaway. Raised in Austin, TX, Jim lived the majority of his life in Salem until retiring to Amherst. A graduate of the University of Texas, Jim was an Eagle Scout, small business owner, Master Gardener, world traveler and one of the good guys in this world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son James Edward “Ted” Callaway (Karen Wardzala); a grandson, James Albert Callaway all of Washington, DC; a sister, Jane Callaway of Tyler, TX; a brother-in-law, Tom Parr of Madison Heights. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Brown; and a sister-in-law, Faye Parr.
A graveside committal service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Amherst Cemetery by the Rev. Bret Gresham.
