Jeraline Roark Moorefield, 90, of Nathalie passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Gretna Healthcare Center. She was the wife first to the late Ralph Roark and second to the late Raleigh C. Moorefield Sr. for 61 years.
Mrs. Moorefield was born in Halifax County, January 15, 1926 the eldest child of the late Ewart Roark and Nettie Anderson Roark. She was a member of Clover Bottom Baptist Church where she formerly played the piano, organ and served in several positions. She was educated in the county schools and was a graduate of Richmond Business College. Early on, she showed a love of music and took piano lessons for 10 years. Later, she taught piano and played at the church for weddings and funerals.
She is survived by two sons, R. Carrington Moorefield Jr. (Patricia), and Kurland Roark all of Nathalie; one daughter, Glenda M. Snyder (Tim) of Buchanan; three grandchildren, Chris Roark (Holly) of Gladys, Heather Moorefield of Richmond, Matthew Moorefield (Megan) of Nathalie; two great-grandchildren, William Roark, Mae Moorefield and she adored them all.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Clover Bottom Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Lively and the Rev. Robert Simmons with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at her residence and following the funeral in the church fellowship hall.
