Joel Winfree Hunt, 86, of Nathalie passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret Tuck Hunt.
Mr. Hunt was born in Halifax County, October 13 1929 son of the late Memory Ryland Hunt and Effie Arthur Hunt. He was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church, U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, former employee of Foster Fuels and a retired well driller.
He is survived by two sons, Bryant W. Hunt (Treva) of Mt. Airy, N.C., Bruce A. Hunt (Vaneta) of Brookneal; one daughter, Teresa H. Ranson (Kevin) of Nathalie; a daughter-in-law, Debra B. Hunt of Nathalie; eight grandchildren, Brandy H. Wilson (Jason) of Gladys, Niki H. Stinde (Mark), Olivia H. Wisecarver (Chad) all of McKinney, Texas, Dana Hunt of Mt. Airy, N.C., Alexandra Hunt of Brookneal, Julianna, Michaela and Alayna Ranson all of Nathalie; five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jordyn Wilson, Conner Stinde, Sarah Wisecarver and Beau Ranson; one brother, Irvin Hunt (Doris) of Nathalie. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy J. Hunt; a grandson, Tyler W. Hunt; four brothers, Roy, Clarence, Russell and Carrol Hunt; two sisters, Nannie Belle Henderson, and Ida Elizabeth Hunt.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Mulberry Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield, the Rev. Shelton Miles and the Rev. David Hanks with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at the home of Teresa and Kevin Ranson other times.
