Marion Josephine Bailey Jones died October 23, 2014 at her home in Gladys. She was born April 27, 1927, in the Hat Creek Community of Campbell County, a daughter of the late Herman Bailey and Marion Moore Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Eldridge Clarence Jones, and her sister Mildred Ellen Bailey.
She is survived by her three sons and beloved daughters-in-law, William E. Jones (Norah) of Gladys, George L. Jones (Joyce) of Brookneal, John B. Jones (Susan) of Albany, NY; six grandchildren, Adrienne Daly (Joshua) of Charlestown, RI, Vesna Farrar (Jon), Clinton Jones all of Lynchburg, Celia Jones of Roanoke, Sophia and Ezra Jones of Albany, NY; two great-granddaughters, Josie and Evie Daly.
Educated in Campbell County schools, she was a graduate of Brookneal High School, attended Farmville State Teachers College (Longwood University) and was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing in 1948.
She was an active member of Kedron Baptist Church, serving in many different positions and missions programs. She was a volunteer for the Hospice of the Hills, served on the Campbell County Public Library Board of Directors, and was a literacy Volunteer.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Kedron Baptist Church in Gladys by the Rev. Brian Reynolds. Private interment will be at Wesleybury United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends in the home and immediately after the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
