Madeline Brooks Wingfield, 94, of Lynchburg, formerly of Naruna, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Summit Health and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late M. Haywood Wingfield.
Mrs. Wingfield was born in Campbell County, April 15, 1923, a daughter of the late John L. Brooks, Sr. and Annie Marshall Brooks. She was a member of Falling River Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha W. Marstin of Brookneal, Janet W. Brooks (Jack) of Lynchburg; one son, Charles W. Wingfield II (Kathy) of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Rev. W. Lynn Marstin (Rhonda), Amanda Gunn (Craig), Charles W. Wingfield III (Julia), Jonathan Wingfield, Daniel Fallen (Adrienne), and Brooke Fallen; 15 great-grandchildren, Mark Marstin (Hillary), Matthew Marstin, Clint and Megan Gunn, Chase, Spencer and Mason Wingfield, Kayla and Kenzie Wingfield, Henry, Nora and Georgia Fallen, Madison and Abby Cole, and Skyler Robertson; one great-great-grandchild, Clayton Marstin. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Claiborn Marstin; two sisters, Margaret Bass, Rachel Coates; four brothers, Lewis, Guy, Woodrow and Lawson Brooks.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Falling River Baptist Church by the Rev. W. Lynn Marstin and the Rev. Keith Williams with interment to follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.
