Obituaries

Madeline Harris Holt, 81, of Brookneal passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was the wife of the late George Allie Holt. Mrs. Holt was born in Charlotte County, February 29, 1936, daughter of the late Edward Harris and Lelia Jones Harris.  She was a member of Roanoke Presbyterian Church and a retired employee of Bassett-Walker. She is survived by one son, Dwayne A. Holt (Shirley) of Brookneal; two daughters, Wanda Carol MacGregor of Portsmouth, Sharon H. Tuck (Ricky) of Red House; six grandchildren, Nick Tuck, Megan Reamer (Thomas), Steven Compton, William Powell, Jr., Allie Holt, and Riana Holt; one brother, Eugene Harris (Connie) of Lynchburg.  She was preceded in death by a son, Ryan B. Holt; a brother, Garnett Harris; two sisters, Carolyn Harris and Ivy Holt; a son-in-law, Jack MacGregor. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Roanoke Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Herndon Jeffreys with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the residence of Dwayne and Shirley Holt other times.
