Roberta Ridgeway Booker, 87, of Nathalie passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Richmond.  She was the wife of the late Kenneth Booker.

Roberta was born in Halifax County, April 16, 1927 the 9th of 12 children born to the late John Ferris Ridgeway Sr. and Mattie Bomar Ridgeway.  She was a member of Childrey Baptist Church and a former insurance agent.

She was a 1944 graduate of Volens High School and later from Phillips Business College in Lynchburg.  She was married on December 10, 1949 and as part of a US Navy family moved many times with her family over the next 17 years.  After returning home to Nathalie she spent 20 years working for the DeJarnette and St. John Insurance Agencies.  She enjoyed reading, movies, puzzles and travelling with her family.  She moved to Richmond in 2010 to be closer to her sons.

She is survived by three sons, Bruce Booker (Julia) of Richmond, Kenneth Booker (Jeanette) of Chesterfield, and David Booker (Alma) of Powhatan; six grandchildren, Kathryn, John, Scott (Lauren), Jennifer Gibbons (Daniel), Melissa and Justin; two sisters-in-law, Irene Ridgeway, Carol Ridgeway; 17 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; and many cousins.  She was preceded in death by six brothers, Frank Ridgeway and wife Jessie, Jack, Russell, LeRoy, Billy and Tommy Ridgeway; five sisters, Helen and Catherine Ridgeway, Lucille Martin and husband Clinton, Claudine Weatherford and husband Johnny, Jean Ridgeway.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Elmcroft of Chesterfield for their care of Roberta in her last few years.
