Thelbert Starkey Tucker, 90, of Cherry Creek Road, Nathalie, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Brookneal. He was the husband of the late Edith Bowling Tucker.

Mr. Tucker was born in Pittsylvania County, August 4, 1924, son of the late James Tucker and Oakey Robey Tucker. He was a member of Clover Bottom Baptist Church, a Army veteran of World War II and Korea, and a retired farmer.

He is survived by one son, Steve Moore (Janice); one grandson, Steve Moore Jr. (Pam); one great grandson, Thomas Moore (fiancee’ Kimber Watts) all of Nathalie; one sister, Frances Gill of Altavista; one brother-in-law, Jack Clifton of Salem; a special niece, Emily Mayhew (Wayne) of Hurt. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robey Tucker and three sisters, Nona Atkinson, Una May Trent, and Molly Clifton.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, August 8, 2014 at Clover Bottom Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Simmons and the Rev. Joseph Lively with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Steve and Janice Moore, Cherry Creek Road, Nathalie. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent by visiting hendersonfuneral.net
