Thomas Edward Milton

Thomas Edward Milton, 82, of Aspen Rd., Phenix passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 in North Carolina.  He was the husband of the late Edith Lee Milton.

Mr. Milton was born in Charlotte County, November 13, 1931 a son of the late John Wiley Milton and Grace Payne Milton.  He was a member of Staunton River Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, former Sunday School Superintendant and teacher, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a board member of the Charlotte County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by one son, Gary E. Milton (Shirl) of Phenix; one daughter, Pam M. Layne (Wally) of Holden Beach, NC; seven grandchildren, Tony Iovinetti, Samantha, Denver and Kristen Milton, Matt Atkins, Luke and Adam Balmer; one great grandchild, A. J. Iovinetti; two brothers, Jake Milton of Phenix, Lowell Milton (Joyce) of Lynchburg; two sisters, Lillian Milton of Phenix and Ann Jeter of Chester.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Staunton River Baptist Church by the Rev. Rick Dellinger with interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Military rites will be performed at the grave by American Legion Post #36 of Altavista.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the committal service and at his residence other times.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Staunton River Baptist Church.
