Brenda and family, I'm very sorry to hear of Billy's passing. He was always so kind to me and my parents. Having grown up in Brookneal and at Brookneal Baptist, I have fond memories of him, always with a kind word or a wave. I'll be praying for you.

Brenda, I just found out today (12:40 pm, Saturday) that Billy had passed. My most sincere condolences to you and all of the family. Billy was a life-long friend, and I will always cherish the good times we enjoyed together - hunting, playing Rook, and other memorable occasions. I am truly thankful to have had a fine, Christian man like your dad as a close friend. We will all miss him. With sympathy, John, Dottie, and Jennifer Tonkins

My deepest sympathy to all of Billy's family and friends. He was one of the kindest, most gracious and generous men I've ever known, or will ever know. He was a perfect example of a true, Southern country gentleman. You didn't have to be around him long to know of his faith, he lived it everyday. There's no doubt he's in the arms of Jesus, and reuniting with his family and friends that have gone before him. Billy adds to the list of wonderful people I look forward to seeing again one day when I enter Heaven. Until that day, each time I pass Guthries Hardware, I will smile, remembering this precious man, and the difference he made will he was here.
