Obituaries

Barbara Ann Moorefield Williams, 75, of Gladys passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Duke University Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of Lawrence Hudnall “L H” Williams for 54 years. Barbara was born in Halifax County, August 5, 1947, a daughter of the late Paul Moorefield and Annie Dell Wade Moorefield. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities, and was retired from Centra Health. She was also a member of The Coat of Many Colors Quilting Guild, where she loved creating quilts to share with her loved ones. Barbara will be remembered for her talents, kindness, and generosity. In addition to her husband, she will be lovingly remembered by her son, Kevin and his wife Jennifer Williams; her daughter, Pamela and her husband Greg Epperson; eight grandchildren, Destiny, Kassidy, Loren, Iraland, Koal, and Ruger Williams, Conner and Garrett Epperson; four great-grandchildren, Kanaan, Korbyn, Waylon and Iris; her baby girl, Sunshine; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Mack and Roy Moorefield; a sister, Jane Francis. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Jamie Adams and the Rev. Johnny Roberts with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at the residence other times. Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
