James (Jim) Beale Booker, 86, of Powhatan, passed away peacefully at St Francis Hospital in Midlothian on February 2, 2024. He was the husband of Arlene Rakers Booker. Jim was born in Lynchburg, June 4, 1937, the son of the late Wise Samuel Booker and Blanche Beale Booker. He was a U.S. Army veteran, achieving the rank of SP5, and served at Ft. Ord, CA from 1960-1963, and was an active member of Emmaus Christian Church in Powhatan. Jim graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1973 and retired in 2001 after serving 37 years at Reynolds Metals/Alcoa as a Senior Computer Systems Analyst. Jim enjoyed singing in his younger years and gardening in his retirement. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Chris Booker (Ann); grandchildren; Emily Booker and Zach Booker (Kelsey); great grandson, Carson James Booker; stepchildren, Don Steiner, Kristy Thurber (Jonathan), Kerry Martin (Kevin); step grandchildren, Ashton, Elizabeth, Jacob and Claire Thurber, Ellie, Adam, and Abby Martin. He was preceded in death by Joyce Gambrell, the mother of his son Chris. A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Emmaus Christian Church in Powhatan.
