Martha “Jean” Foster Brasuell, 89, of Gladys passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, May 19, 2022. She was the wife of the late William “Bill” Brasuell. Jean was born at Hat Creek in Campbell County on November 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Courtney Foster and Erna Holland Foster. She was a devote Christian, and a long-time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Jean graduated from Virginia Baptist Hospital Nursing School and enjoyed a long career in nursing. She loved spending time with her many brothers and sisters, and especially enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved playing cards with family and friends and was especially fond of “Skip-Bo”. Jean will always be remembered as a kind and caring person who “nursed” many family members and friends through difficult times. She was quiet and humble, letting her actions speak volumes for her love and devotion to the ones she loved. She is survived by one son, David E. Brasuell (Virlyn) of Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Robin G. Gloss (John) of Gladys; six grandchildren, Jenny Buffat, Pam Fleckenstein, Sean Brasuell, Randi White, Bill and James Claybrook; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl Lee Brasuell; six brothers, Bob, Sonny, Bert, Billy, Keith and Tony; and six sisters, Helen, Arlene, Alice, Becky, Genel and Lois. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Jamie Adams with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at her home other times.
