Obituaries

Marvin Ray “Pete” Horn, 87, of Rustburg passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Janice Hughes Horn. Mr. Horn was born in Lynchburg, September 12, 1936, a son of the late George Andrew Horn and Macie Bell Collins Horn. He served ten years with the Army National Guard and retired from Lynchburg Foundry. Marvin lived his younger years with his favorite Uncle Collie and Aunt Maggie Candler, graduating Boonsboro High School and becoming a member of the “Shoeless Wonders” at the Presbyterian Home where his Uncle Collie worked. He was a founding member of the Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by a son, Larry Godsey (Kristi) of Rustburg; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Godsey, Marc Godsey (Jessica), Tyler Godsey (Kirstin), Katie Godsey (Carter); a brother, Leroy Horn (Mary Katherine) of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Horn; special cousin Albert Mac “Sonny” Collins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mack Almond with interment to follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Marvin had a love of taking in stray cats and feeding animals of the wild.
