Obituaries

Morris Overstreet, 78, of Phenix passed away February 10, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was a devoted husband for 58 years to Dorothy Mae Grishaw Overstreet. Mr. Overstreet was born in Charlotte County, October 9, 1943, son of the late John Thomas Overstreet and the late Zola Gibson Overstreet. Morris was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was a retiree of B&W and spent his life farming which he enjoyed immensely. Mr. Overstreet was a loving and wonderful father and grandfather, who was loved and respected by all who crossed his path. Morris is survived by two sons Wayne Overstreet and Tom Overstreet of Phenix, two daughters Renee Overstreet Camden (Phil) of Evington, Lynn Overstreet of Phenix, grandchildren Blake Overstreet of Phenix, Derek Ferguson of Evington, a brother Roger Overstreet (Anna) of Powhatan, a sister Joyce Guthrie of Forest and a number of nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by a brother John Overstreet, two sisters Christine Compton and Doris Fallen. A funeral service will be conducted at Midway Baptist Church Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. by the Reverend Chris Kesler, with interment to follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall and at the home other times.
