Naomi Hailey, 80 years old, went peacefully to rest with her Savior on May 20, 2023.
Naomi was born June 18, 1942 in Halifax, Virginia. She lovingly cared for her family while working hard to provide a loving home. On November 23, 1961, she married the love of her life, Dewey Hailey, and together 60 years, they raised their family of three boys and two girls: Dewey, Susan, Kevin, Carol, and David.
Granny was an amazing cook; she spent more time in the kitchen than anywhere else. You could always count on biscuits, cakes and pies being available anytime you were hungry. The first question you would be asked if you visited her at home would be, “Are you hungry?” or “Have you eaten?” She always wanted to make sure you were taken care of before you left. Her other great love was Pops. They were always together, sitting right beside each other. You would be hard pressed finding someone as dedicated to their spouse as Granny was to our Pops.
Naomi is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Hailey, her parents Lee and Avis Montgomery, her brothers Paul, Elisha & Buddy Lee, and sister, Rebecca Elizabeth, who, upon entering heaven, she warmly embraced. She is survived by her children Dewey (Cynde), Susan (Mark), Kevin (Teresa), Carol, and David (Sarah); 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and sisters Geneva, Alsie, and Hattie.
The family would like to thank Centra Health Palliative Care and the staff of Lynchburg General Hospital for their love and care of Granny and our family.
The funeral will be held at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel in Brookneal on May 28, 2023 at 3 PM officiated by Dr. Rob Van Engen. Interment to follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Chapel.
