Thomas Felda Wade, 73, of Lynchburg passed away February 6, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born the youngest son of Herman and Lurline Wade on March 4, 1947, Thomas lived his young life in Brookneal, Virginia. He graduated from William Campbell High School in 1966 and married the love of his life Linda Tucker Wade on August 12, 1967. They resided in Lynchburg, Virginia with their children Dedra Wade Love and Dwayne Wade. Thomas was a life-long educator, graduating from Ferrum and Lynchburg Colleges, teaching Physical Education and serving as Guidance Counselor for Brookville Middle School until his retirement in 2001. In addition, he taught countless teens and adults to drive at Wade’s Driving School. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast enjoying hunting, fishing and taking trips to Kansas with his son-in-law and friends to enjoy quail hunting. He also loved spending time in Brookneal with his parents and at Brookneal Sportsman’s Club where he was a lifetime member. Thomas had a big personality and an even bigger sense of humor, charming all who knew him with his quick wit and sparkly eyes. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Linda, his daughter Dedra Love (Chuck), of Dillwyn, his son Dwayne Wade of Lynchburg and grandchildren Garrett Love and Sydney Wade. He is also survived by his nephew Darrell Wade, his brother-in-law Sammy Tucker (Martha) and sister-in-law Cora Alice Pollard (Luther) and a host of treasured friends. Thomas was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Maxie R. Wade. The family will receive friends at Henderson Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude’s or the charity of your choice.
