Obituaries

Vivian Carol Barksdale Hawkins, 76, of Gladys passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Vivian was born in Campbell County, June 14, 1946, a daughter of the late Malcolm Barksdale, Sr. and Reva Tribble Lee. She was a member of Falling River Baptist Church and a homemaker. She is survived by a son, Kevin Kerr (Kendra); a daughter, Kimberly Troyer (friend Jamie Holt) all of Gladys; two grandsons, Kenneth and Kolten Kerr; a brother, M. E. Barksdale, Jr. (Dana) of Brookneal; a sister, Patricia Irby of Gladys; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Hudson. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Falling River Baptist Church by the Rev. Brian Hart with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
