Ernest James Filep

Ernest James Filep, 83, of Lynch Station, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, April 22, 2022. He was the husband of Heidi Hinderer Filep.

Ernie was born in New York City, November 5, 1938, the son of the late Sigismond Filep and Julianna Gyuricsko Filep. He was a retired police officer from the New York City Police Department and a Commander in the Naval Reserves.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Renee Filep of Radiant, Kristin Copenhaver (Dwayne) of Blacksburg; one son, Erik Filep (Stephanie) of Troy; two grandchildren, James and Autumn Copenhaver. He was preceded in death by a sister, Suzi Buttigieg; and a brother, Robert Donald Filep.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2022 at Union Hill Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Reggie Warren.
