Corine Mae Guthrie

Corine Mae Guthrie, 90, of Nathalie passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, May 26, 2022.
She was the wife of the late Algie Thomas Guthrie, Jr.

Mrs. Guthrie was born in Madison Heights, May 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Sam Staton and
the late Florine Hatter Staton. She was a member of Childrey Baptist Church. She was formerly a clerk at Mays Five & Dime in Brookneal.

Grandmother was a hard-working farmer’s wife. She will be remembered for her great cooking skills and her love of frogs and butterflies. She enjoyed all the holidays and having family gatherings.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Guthrie (Linda) of Durham, N.C. and Gary E. Guthrie (Rhonda) of Nathalie; five grandchildren, Jennifer G. Younce (Tim) of Forest, Wendie L. Guthrie, Kristie G. Newcomb both of Bedford, Kyle T. Guthrie (Anika) of Abilene, TX, Jacob A. Guthrie of Nathalie; five great-grandchildren, Zachery Younce (Caroline), Zoie Younce, Lucus Stump, Asa Gabriel Newcomb, Athena Guthrie; a sister, Sammie Fowler of Williamsburg; and a special niece, Pat Pribble of Lynchburg. She is preceded in death by a son, Wendell Lee “Wink” Guthrie; two brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service will be conducted at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

The family will receive friends at her son Gary’s home.
