John David Davis, 80, of Nathalie, passed away September 5, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pattie Riddle Davis.
Born January 23, 1945, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Arnie Lee Davis, Sr. and Beatrice Oakes Davis. He was predeceased by 12 siblings.
David was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. He retired from BWXT.
He was a loving and devoted husband, daddy and Papa. He was an avid race fan – he had a love for Fords and old cars. He shared many stories of growing up in Riceville with his big family. He loved visiting the mountains riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and Natural Bridge. He instilled a hard work ethic in each of his children and grandchildren. On Sundays, he loved going for an afternoon ride.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Joyce Brown (Jeff) of Nathalie, Janet Conner (Roger) of South Boston and Julie Lacks (JR) of Nathalie; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Lacks, Tabitha Benson, Cory Roach, Kyle Roach, Lelia Hughes (Brandon), John Conner, Jared Brown, Kalea Lacks, Arissa Conner (Eli), Zander Lacks and Jayden Lacks; 6 great grandchildren, Leilon, Remington, Emmalynn, McKinleigh, Colton and Callie; a sister Carolyn Waller (William) and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Richard Boswell on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the church service and at the home at other times.
