Nancy Jennings Hendricks

December 26, 1937 - December 14, 2025

Burial Date: December 17, 2025

Nancy Jennings Hendricks, born December 26, 1937, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. She spent her life in Brookneal, Virginia, a place she called home and where her love and presence shaped generations of family.

Nancy was a devoted mother to Cynthia Hendricks Rutledge (Dale) and Howard Kyle Hendricks II “Chip” (Christy). She was also a loving sister to Wayne Jennings (Linda), and a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She was known best by her favorite title, Nana, a role she embraced fully and lovingly. Nana’s world revolved around her grandchildren: Jillyan Rutledge Pritt (Josh), Dagen Rutledge Weaver, Drew Rutledge Bullock (Travis), Kelci Hendricks (Dan Spangler), and her only grandson, who she joins in heaven, Howard Kyle Hendricks III “Trey.” She was also deeply blessed by her five great-grandchildren, Beckett and Hudson Pritt, Rutledge and Lillian Bullock, Westyn Hendricks, and Kate Weaver, each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Martha Jennings, her husband Howard Kyle Hendricks “Kyle,” her sisters Elizabeth Handy and Barbra Ann Gilbert and brother Bobby Jennings.

Nancy’s love was steady, generous, and deeply felt. She always showed up in quiet ways with unwavering devotion, never missing a game or event that her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were involved in. To so many, she was simply Nana, a name spoken with love. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so fiercely, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

There will be a graveside service Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Stanfield officiating. The family will receive friends at her residence.
