Dewey Wayne Fannon, 76, of Gladys passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at home. He was the husband of Gayle Reynolds Fannon.
Dewey Wayne was born in Kingsport, Tenn., March 18, 1945 a son of the late William Fred Fannon and Georgia Johnson Fannon. He attended Edge Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran having served three tours in Vietnam, a member of Brookneal Oddfellows 267, Golden View River Club, and was retired from Fannon Trucking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jeffrey Wayne Fannon (Carolyn) of Brookneal, Gregory Shane Fannon (Stephanie) of Nathalie, Christopher Hans Fannon of Gladys, Larry Wayne Fannon (Amanda); one daughter, MeChelle M. Pollard (Mike) all of Brookneal; eighteen grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Edgar A. Baldwin, III of Spout Spring; one brother, Larry Fannon (Patty); two sisters, Pat Foster (Ray), Janie Seckman; beloved and faithful companion, Luke. He was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Seamster, two brothers-in-law, D. P. Seckman, and Bill Dowdy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Sharon United Methodist Church by Dr. Jerry P. Jordan with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the grave by American Legion Post #36 of Altavista and Post #232 of Gretna.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the residence other times.
Following CDC guidelines everyone attending the visitation and service will be required to wear a mask and social distance.
