Walter Lester Pillow, Sr. 74 of Gladys, left his earthly home to be with his maker and finally reunited with his wife and daughter. He was the husband of the late Mary Garrett Pillow for 41 years.
Mr. Pillow was born in Lynchburg, August 28, 1946, a son of the late Earl Pillow and Dorothy Davis Pillow. He was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, a U. S. Navy veteran of Viet Nam, a member of Brookneal American Legion Post 52, the Brookneal Gideon Camp and the owner of Pillow Logging Company for 38 years. Walter has cut down his last tree, hauled off his last load of logs and re-planted his last pine. Forever healed in heaven!
He is survived by three sons, W. L. Pillow, Jr. (Cori Jo) of Hurt, Robert Ensley (Lisa) of Appomattox, Al Ensley (Tamey) of Gladys; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Susie P. Wright (Dennis) of Rustburg; and special companion, Betty Peters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Pillow Dowdy; three brothers, Marshall Jennings, Earl and Wayne Pillow; one sister, Catherine J. Bell.
The family wishes to thank his nursing staff at Lynchburg General Hospital and Doctors Khoury, Daniel and Pennington.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Brad Hendrix with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021 at the church.
