Mae Crews Saunders, 81, of Nathalie, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the home of her sister, surrounded by family. She was the wife of a loving husband, Louis E. Saunders. Mae was born in Halifax County, September 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Joe Allison Crews and Inez Tuck Crews. She was retired from the Halifax County Public School System. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Cathy Crews Peade of Nathalie; step-children, Dale Jennings (Ronnie), Crystal Smith all of Nathalie, and Randy Saunders (Sharon) of Forest; grandchildren, Tabitha Anderson of Nathalie, Michelle Davis (Scott) of Goode, Fallon Saunders of Bedford, Blaine and Peyton Trickey of Nathalie; two great-grandchildren, Bentley Anderson of Nathalie and Evelyn Davis of Goode; nieces, Linda Crews Holland (Billy) of Brookneal, Teresa Crews Ward (Lester) of Charlotte Courthouse, Tara Crews Lacks (Victor) of Clover, Paula Crews Orellana of South Boston, Kelly Peade Culpepper (Willie) of Nathalie; nephews, David Crews of Danville, Blair Crews of Cluster Springs; a very special sister-in-law, Beverly Crews; a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Edwin Crews and his wife Doris, Dannie Ray Crews; a niece, Judy Gayle Crews; two nephews, Timothy Lynn Crews and his wife Darla, Mark Edwin Crews; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth David Peade. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by Kelly and Willie Culpepper with interment to follow in the Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, at her residence and the home of her sister Cathy other times. |
