Coretta Guthrie Terry, 97, of Nathalie passed away September 3, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Percy Hubbard Terry.
Coretta was born in Halifax County, July 28, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Algie Thomas Guthrie Sr. and Ruby Hendricks Guthrie. She was a member of Gretna Church of God of Prophecy and Childrey Baptist Church. After retiring from J.P. Stevens after 35 years of service she helped her son, Percy Bailey Terry of Nathalie raise her four grandchildren.
In addition to her son, she is survived by her four grandchildren; Sam Terry (Laura Beth) of Nathalie, Melinda Terry of Gladys, Becky Reynolds (Justin) of Gladys, Rick Terry of South Boston; six great-grandchildren, Tori Terry, Greysen Terry, Montana Terry, Seth Reynolds, Brady Terry, Adley Reynolds; two sisters, Ruth Newton of Fredericksburg, Letricia Hall of Lynchburg, along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Algie Thomas Guthrie Jr. As so many knew, she loved to work and be outside. She loved doing yardwork, gardening, tending to her flowers as well as many other things.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11am Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield and Rev. Coy Terry with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will have visitation Friday, September 9, 2022, from 5pm-8pm at the home of Sam and Laura Beth Terry, 1235 Stage Coach Road, Nathalie. They will also receive friends following the service on Saturday at the same location.
