Louis Edward Saunders, 81, of Nathalie passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Autumn Care of Altavista. He was the husband of first the late Barbara Farmer Saunders and second the late Joyce Mae Saunders.
Mr. Saunders was born in Halifax County on April 24, 1941 a son of the late Ernest Edward Saunders and the late Ruby Owen Saunders. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Republican Grove. He was retired from Lloyd’s Heating & Air.
He is survived by two daughters, Dale Jennings and Crystal Smith both of Nathalie; a son, Randy E. Saunders (Sharon) of Forest; six grandchildren, Tabitha Anderson (Daniel Francis) and Raymond Chavez of Nathalie, Michelle Davis (Scott) of Goode, Fallon Saunders of Bedford, Blaine and Peyton Trickey of Nathalie; two great-grandchildren Bentley Anderson of Nathalie and Evelyn Davis of Goode; a sister Jewel Simpson of Durham, N.C. and three sisters-in-law Jean Saunders, Iris Mitchell and Betty Sue Farmer. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Saunders, a brother Earl Saunders and a sister Malissie Hill and a son-in-law Ronnie Jennings.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove by the Rev. Shelton Miles with interment to follow at Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church and other times at the home.
