Burnette Barksdale Martin, 76, of Gretna passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Guggenheimer Health and Rehab in Lynchburg. He was the husband of Frances Miles Martin. Mr. Martin was born in Halifax County, November 24, 1941, a son of the late Roy Clarence Martin and Blanche Coates Martin. He was a retired employee of Motley’s Tobacco Warehouse. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mitchell T. Martin (Jeanette), Michael K. Martin (Joan) all of Gretna; three step-children, Vanessa York (Darryl) of Denver, N.C., David Miles of Chesterfield, Cheryl Miles of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Mitchell II (Jessica), Robert, Jimmie, Annie and Madalyn Martin, Shelley Mumpower (Thomas), Jeremiah Moye; three great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Emory, and Slade; two sisters, Brenda Worden of Drakes Branch, Phylis Callahan of Chase City; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Martin; and a sister, JoAnne Trickey. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Wickliffe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
