Obituaries

Carroll Newton Carwile, 91, of Brookneal passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy Sublett Carwile. Mr. Carwile was born in Campbell County, May 29, 1925 son of the late Thomas W. Carwile and Bernice Tucker Carwile. He was a member of Hat Creek Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a founding member of the Brookneal Rescue Squad, a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and a farmer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tilson Carwile (Lorene), Jason Carwile (Melissa) all of Brookneal; four grandchildren, Daniel F. Carwile (Taylor), C.W. Carwile, Eric P. Carwile all Brookneal, Shannon E. Moon (Matt) of Appomattox; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Scarlett Moon; beloved caregiver, Brenda Shrewsberry. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldridge Carwile and G. Merle Carwile. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Hat Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Keith Williams.
