Doris Singleton Eggleston, 79, of Brookneal, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 11, 2025. She was the widow of the late Herbert William Singleton and Thomas “Jack” Eggleston and longtime partner of Clyde A. Hendricks. Born in Campbell County on December 14, 1945, Doris was the daughter of the late Claude Herman Martin and the late Etta Trent Martin. She was of the Baptist faith, loved everyone and never met a stranger. Doris will be remembered from her many years as manager at the Jiffy Store in Brookneal. Doris is survived by two daughters, Angela Mann (Frank) of Gladys, Mary Moore (Randy) of Brookneal. She was the grandmother of twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved; a sister, Peggy Moore of Evington; two brothers, Mike Brightwell and Bill Brightwell, along with a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Jennings and two granddaughters Elizabeth Mann and Jennifer Mann. A Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., by Rev. Andrew Reisberg at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Clover Bottom Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Monday, October 13, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home from 6-7 p.m. and other times at Doris’ home.
