Ernest Clyde Watts Jr., 92, of Phenix passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Cassie Bradner Watts. Mr. Watts was born in Halifax County, June 6, 1923 son of the late Ernest C. Watts Sr. and Lillie Bruce Watts. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, US Army veteran of WW II, and a retired employee of Burlington Industries at Drakes Branch. He is survived by one son, Donald C. Watts of Phenix; one daughter, Carolyn W. Watson (Louis E.) of Forest; five grandchildren, Shannon Watts, Lisa Williams (Billy), Bryan Watts (Paula), Jeffrey Watson, Amy Watson; three great-grandchildren, Logan Watts, Cora Williams, Parker Williams; two brothers-in-law, Oma Bradner, Shirley Brown; one sister-in-law, Hazel Watts. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Midway Baptist Church by the Rev. Joey Anthony and the Rev. Chris Kesler with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
