Hubert Michael Gilliland, 71, of Rustburg passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025. He was the husband of Denise Burnette Gilliland. Mike was born on June 11, 1954, he was the son of the late Hubert Earnest Gilliland and the late Evelyn Johnson Gilliland . He was the owner of HMG Welding Company and a retired contractor for Frito-Lay. He loved his pup, Zeus, the family farm, loud music, good food, long drives and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader, hunter, and fisherman. Mike is survived by one son, Jarrett Parton, of Rustburg; and one sister, Dianne Gilliland, and her husband David Reynaud of Charlottesville. The family would like to thank a special neighbor Lee Lambert for his many acts of kindness, Martha Gilliland and Alisha Jones for their care when Mike was at home and care by Centra Hospice. Mike’s health declined in 2024, and he moved to Edley Place Home Care where Betty, Mona, Amelia and other staff took kind and loving care of him. We are grateful. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2025, by the Rev. Andrew Reisberg at Staunton River Baptist Church Cemetery in Charlotte County.
