Hubert Rex Joy, 76, of Rustburg passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria Hodnett Joy for 58 years. Mr. Joy was born in Campbell County, September 8, 1939, son of the late Willis R. Joy and Mary Elder Joy. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation and Thompson Trucking. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Herbert Ray Joy of Brookneal; a sister, Coretta Joy Safriet of Columbia, S.C.; his special dog, Angel; nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Carl Weiser. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.
