Hugh Garland Childress, 89, of Richmond passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Childress was born in Charlotte County, October 26, 1925 son of the late William Edward Childress and Gracie Trent Childress. He was of the Methodist Faith, a U.S. Army veteran and a former employee of Associated Transport. He is survived by one son, Larry Childress (Debbie) of Amelia; one daughter, Diane Cahoon (Jack) of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren, Derrick Childress of Richmond, Holly Hannah, Wendy Hott both of Mechanicsville. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Clary. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Phenix United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Wilson with interment to follow in the Baldwin Family Cemetery in Charlotte Court House. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
