Landon Bates Gilliland, 31, of Gladys passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018. Landon was born in Knoxville, Tenn., October 14, 1986, the son of Michael Burton Gilliland of Gladys and Ellen Stacks Gilliland of Charlottesville. He attended Coastal Carolina University and was an avid fisherman, hunter and motorsports participant. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Edith Gilliland of Gladys; two uncles, Carol Gilliland (Shirley) of Rustburg, Tab Stacks (Stacy) of Falls Church; three aunts, Nancy Barnes (Terry) of Lynchburg, Martha DeJarnette of Rustburg. Karen Anderson (Bobby) of Troy; cousins, Lee Anderson (Egle), Jacquelyn Langhorne (Glen), Jared DeJarnette, Megan Barnes, Ashley Gilliland, Sofia Anderson, Kaitlyn and Kailee Langhorne, Iyla and Edie Ferguson, Makayla Womble; best canine buddies, Baxter and Tyson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Gilliland; and maternal grandparents, Purvis L. and Dorothy “Meme” Stacks. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Johnny Roberts. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
