Lester Clayton Harvey, Jr., 58, of Phenix, passed away at VCU Critical Care on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was the husband of April McAllister Harvey. Lester was born in Halifax County on April 27, 1966, a son of the late Lester Clayton Harvey, Sr. and the late Mary Frances Evans Harvey. He was a member of Mt. Carmel UMC and was a self-employed contractor. Lester was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He was an avid outdoorsman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Cody Harvey (Jessica), Josh Harvey, Jaxen Harvey; two daughters, Lindsey Bender (Mark), and Summer Harvey; eight grandchildren, Brycen Bender, Parker Bender, Mason Bender, Easton Bender, Elijah Bender, Camden Harvey, Ava Stern, and Addison Stern; siblings, Leslie Dixon (Dwight), Jeff Harvey (Wendy) and Angela Peck (Mike Bryant). A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Teixeira on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel UMC with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal is assisting the family.
