Marvin Hudnal Hines, 88, of Nathalie passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Joan Tucker Hines. Mr. Hines was born in Halifax County, June 17, 1935 a son of the late Thomas Herbert Hines and Mary Adelle Crank Hines. He was a member of Childrey Baptist Church, a U. S. Navy veteran and retired from ABB. In addition to his wife, he is survived by, a granddaughter, Amanda Hines Holden (Brandon); a great-granddaughter, Briar Holden; siblings, Sally Woosley, Ernest Hines, Ellie Crews, Alma Hamlett, Kate Gilliam, Ruby Inge and David Hines. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephan M. Hines; a sister, Mary E. Parker; and a brother, Thomas L. Hines. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors performed by American Legion Post #36 of Altavista and Post #232 of Gretna. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at the home other times.
