Obituaries

Sonja Elizabeth Mann, 66, of Gladys passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at home. She was the wife of John Henry Mann for 44 years. Sonja was born in Newport News, July 20, 1951, a daughter of the late Billy Wesley Mason and Grace Banton Mason. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, and a retired Certified Nursing Assistant for Central Virginia Training Center, where she worked of 36 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John Wesley Mann (Carol) of Brookneal; grandchildren, Seth Alexander, Emily Elizabeth, Amber Nichole, and Logan John Mann; three sisters, Nancy M. Mason (John) of Brookneal, Nita M. Pillow, Coretta M. Davidson (Bruce); one brother, Billy Robert Mason all of Gladys; special friends, Tony and Joan Moscicki of Garfield, N.J., Earl and Myrtle Tony of Fla. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Pee Wee, Shelby Marsh, and Teresa Jennings. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Sharon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. R. A. “Dick” Dailey with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church, Naruna, VA.
