Walter Lee Piotrowski, 89, of Locust Grove, formerly of Alexandria, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Culpeper Village Retirement Center. He was ill for eight years. He is survived by his partner, Eileen Bell.
Mr. Piotrowski was born in Mabscott, West Virginia, September 18, 1934, a son of the late Francis L. Piotrowski and Frances Walthall Piotrowski. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, active in the Civil Air Patrol, and a former employee of Sparta Inc. as an Air and Space Engineer. Walter was a lifetime learner and history buff of the War Between the States and WWII. He loved aviation, owned two planes, and enjoyed flying and parachuting.
In addition to his partner, he is survived by two sisters, Sara Stone, and Patricia Bonner; one brother, Stephen Piotrowski; six nieces, six nephews, and was especially fond of his niece Suzette Busa. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Wheelock, and Ferna Williams; one brother, William L. Piotrowski.
The family would like to thank Culpeper Village Staff for all of their care.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gladys, VA. by Richard Hibbeler with Military Honors by American Legion Post #36 of Altavista and Post #232 of Gretna.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Civil Air Patrol Foundation, 105 South Hansell, Building 714, Maxwell Airforce Base, Alabama 36112.
Those attending the service are invited to wear casual attire.
