Obituaries

William Granville Hamlett, 92, of Brookneal passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at home. He was the husband of the late Agnes Holt Hamlett. Mr. Hamlett was born in Roxboro, N.C. on November 14, 1931, a son of the late Roger William Hamlett and Copeland Mason Hamlett. He was a lifetime member of Staunton River Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was retired from the Bibb Company. He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Dickerson of Brookneal; two sons, Rickie Hamlett (Lynn) of Richmond, and Steve Hamlett (Joni) of Lynchburg. Five grandchildren, Tiffany Myers (Ricky), Randall Dickerson, Zachary Dickerson (Angel), Jon Hamlett, William Hamlett (Kelsey); eight great-grandchildren, Aysia Myers, Ransom Dickerson, Colton Davis, Asher, Walker, Dallas, Bryson, Dickerson, and Kenna Hamlett; a sister, Virginia Ashby of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Ernest Hamlett (Linda) of Lynchburg; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Hamlett. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Staunton River Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Rick Dellinger. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
