William Vernon “W. V. ” Bailey, 87, of Brookneal passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Symphony Manor of Richmond. He was the husband of the late Margaret Crews Bailey. Mr. Bailey was born in Charlotte County, September 1, 1929 son of the late Walter Vest Bailey and Mary Wilson Bailey. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Wilson Bailey in 1929 and Mary Ellen Bailey Hamlet in 2001; and by a brother, Gordon Vest Bailey in 1992. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and a retired farmer. He is survived by one brother, Ryland Yancey Bailey (Pencye) of Richmond; his twin sister, Georgia Bailey Mason of Lynchburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Teixeira with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
