Alsie Montgomery Dickerson, 84, of Brookneal passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rufus Field Dickerson. Alsie was born in Halifax County on September 25, 1939, a daughter of the late Buddy Lee Montgomery and the late Avis Jones Montgomery. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from K-Mart in Lynchburg. She is survived by 2 sons: Rufus R. Dickerson (Donna) of Brookneal, Johnny Wesley Dickerson (Anne) of Halifax; a daughter: Barbara Dickerson Johnson (Charles) of Brookneal; 11 grandchildren: Randall, Zach, Bailey, Brianna, Haley, and Dane Dickerson, Caleigh Johnson, Luke and Leah Newbill, Bryan and Kevin Pillow; 9 great-grandchildren: Ransom, Asher and Walker Dickerson, Caleah and Tyler Ramsey, Dallas and Bryson Goin, Baelynn Newbill, Lyle Dickerson; 2 sisters: Geneva Mann and Hattie Layne. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Dickerson; a granddaughter Kaitlyn Elizabeth Johnson; 2 brothers, Buddy Lee Montgomery, Jr., Elisha Montgomery; 2 sisters, Naomi Hailey and Elizabeth Montgomery. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Kenny Lawhorne at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Wickliffe Cemetery.
