Benny William Smith, 87, of Nathalie, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. He was the husband of Sandra Jean Combs Smith. Benny was born in Halifax County, VA on February 21, 1938, a son of the late George T. Smith and the late Ruth Wade Smith. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired crane operator, after 44 years for English Construction. He was of the Christian faith. In addition to his wife Sandra, Benny is survived by three daughters, Katherine Smith Dalton of Gretna, Chasity Smith Comer of Crystal Hill and Patty Harker (Mark) of Kentucky; stepchildren, Gussie Hurd (Rodney) of Mt. Carmel, TN, Tony Lee Falin and Toby Falin of Kingsport, TN, Martha Durham (Brent) of Murfreesboro, TN and Angie Michele Duff (Adam) of Duffield, VA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Faye Franklin (Harry) of Spout Springs. He was preceded in death by a son, William Joseph “Billy” Smith, a daughter, Elaine Castillo and brothers, Louis T. Smith and John C. Smith. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Ava Mitchell on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
