Bertha Hart Lane, 93, of Charlotte Courthouse passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Wayland Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Jessie Willard Lane. Mrs. Lane was born in Washington County, March 31, 1927, daughter of the late Samuel Morris Hart and Bessie Caudill Hart. She was a member of Edge Baptist Church. She is survived by four sons, Everette Lane (Bonnie) of Gladys, Marvin Lane (Phyllis), Samuel Lane (Tina) all of Lynchburg, Hillary Lane (Debra) of Monroe; one daughter, Shirley Morton (Wayne) of Charlotte Courthouse; one daughter-in-law, Lucy Lane of Java; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Bobby Hart of Durham, N.C.; one sister, Lola Steppe of Lynchburg. She was preceded in death by a son, Jessie Willard Lane, Jr. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Jerry Jordan. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department or Campbell County Rescue Squad.
